With the launch of ReadyCT’s Submarine Workforce Career Bridge (SWCB) program, selected high school seniors pursue a direct pathway into a long-term career in submarine manufacturing.
Through SWCB, participants build in-demand skills, grow their confidence, and unlock their full potential — all while preparing for a career dedicated to building submarines. Pretty exciting, right?
What SWCB Provides:
- Workforce skill development
- Pre-employment preparation
- One-on-one coaching
This no-cost program prepares participants for exciting, high-growth employment offers at General Dynamics Electric Boat (EB) or one of its participating suppliers, from applying through the first few months on the job. In this way, participants are best positioned for success!

Who is eligible for SWCB?
Seniors attending the schools below who have accepted an offer of employment with EB, or one of their participating suppliers, can enroll in the SWCB program:
- Ella Grasso Technical High School (Groton)
- James Hillhouse High School (New Haven)
- New London Multi-Magnet High School
- Norwich Free Academy
- Norwich Technical High School
- The Sound School (New Haven)
- Wilbur Cross High School (New Haven)
How does it work?
The program provides participants with a ReadyCT career launch specialist (CLS), who will help students build their resume, apply to EB, and prepare for their interview.
Those who accept an offer from EB will continue working with a CLS to help each participant articulate their individual interests, strengths, and goals.
Each participant will create with their CLS a personalized career launch plan — along with a clear action strategy — to ensure each participant is prepared, confident, and ready to perform on Day 1.
SWCB Benefits:
Once participants enroll in the program, they are connected with a CLS that supports them every step of the way. Together, they focus on building the skills and confidence needed to successfully complete the program and transition into employment.
