CS is Elementary

ReadyCT is the Connecticut state partner for CS is Elementary, working to bring CS education to every K-5 school.

Any K-5 school in Connecticut can join the CS is Elementary movement by hosting an oh-so-simple Family Code Night!

Family Code Night is an hour-long event where parents pair up with their young children to do their first hour of coding, together.  The effect is extraordinary: huge turnouts, great fun, and inspiration. Family Code Night can be virtual or in person (with proper safety precautions).

But make no mistake. Family Code Night is part of something larger — the CS is Elementary movement. This movement recognizes that there can be no equity in education unless every student has access to learning that is modern, relevant, and leads to opportunities across a full college and career spectrum.

Family Code Night is the first step in joining the movement, and parent advocates are a welcome byproduct of every Family Code Night. After Family Code Night, parents leave eager to ensure their children can experience more CS instruction throughout the K-12 continuum.
