Aliyah joined ReadyCT at the onset of Student 5.0 as a peer mentor and, based on her impact, was promoted to peer mentor supervisor. In this role, she collaborates with the senior team on program design, staff development, and support, and works directly with the program manager to ensure continuous program improvement that emphasizes input from peer mentors, community partners, students, and their families.
Prior to joining ReadyCT, Aliyah studied health science and business management at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania (B.S., in progress). Aliyah’s career and learning path has been diverse and includes retail experience and community-based work with many organizations advocating for change and creating opportunities for students. These experiences uniquely position her to provide advocacy-driven support for Student 5.0 peer mentors.
Aliyah hopes that the work that she is currently doing leaves a lasting impact on the communities she continues to serve, and that she will continue this work for years to come. Aliyah hails from New Haven, CT, and has one son, Amihr.
“I believe in pouring back into my community what was poured into me. All youth deserve the opportunity and an access point to achieve the goals they set for themselves. Everyone should feel they have permission to dream, no matter what circumstances they come from, and that they are equipped to set plans/goals and turn those dreams into realities.”
